Macedonian Students at COMU

Students from North Macedonia visited ÇOMÜ within the scope of the "Civilization, History and Culture Camp" organized in cooperation between Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER) and Çanakkale Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports. The program with the participation of visitors to ÇOMÜ on the occasion of the camp organized under the name of " Geography of Heart Balkans Project" carried out by the Ministry of Youth and Sports was held on August 18 at the Troia Cultural Center.

The visit, hosted by TÖMER, was attended by ÇOMÜ Rector Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Ömer Kalkan, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Evren Karayel Gökkaya, Prof. Dr. Dinçay Köksal, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Salih Zeki Genç, Director of TÖMER, Dr. Instructor Member Melek Kalin Sali, ÇOMÜ International Relations Office Coordinator Dr. Instructor Member Mehmet YILDIZ, President of Mercy Association Rıdvan Caferi, President of Vizyon M. Association Taceddin Şabani, academics and international students attended.

Lecturer, who moderated the program and promoted TÖMER. Lect Kemal Erkol explained the system and working principle of the center. In addition, he gave information about the Turkish education programs and activities to the students from North Macedonia who will enroll in TÖMER next year.

Making the opening speech and expressing that they see every international student as a cultural ambassador, TÖMER Director Dr. Instructor Member Kalin Sali said, “We do not only teach languages at our center, we also promote Turkish culture in every aspect with cultural-social activities we organize in a family atmosphere." Melek Kalin Sali, emphasizing that our deep-rooted and rich language, Turkish, is taught with all the finesse and grace to our very valuable students who come to our university from different geographies and cultures and speak different languages, and concluded her words by stating that she would be happy to see students from North Macedonia at our university.

Taceddin Şabani, President of Vizyon M. Association, in his speech; “Referring to the historical ties between Çanakkale and Kosovo; He argued that the brotherhood born from the common struggle in the wars of Çanakkale, Srebrenica and Kosovo should not be forgotten and that we should move forward in the light of the past while shaping our future.”

Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Ömer Kalkan said, “We are carrying out projects in the fields of education, accommodation, nutrition, sports and technique for young people within our Ministry. We also support our work with cultural projects.”

Emphasizing that the most important goal of ÇOMÜ in line with its management vision is internationalization, Rector Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu said, “Our university is a well-established university that has achieved significant success in the academic field with its national and international scientific research, publications, projects and patents. Our university also provides services at the point of social contribution in areas such as social responsibility, culture and arts, sports and youth activities. Our university has more than 2,000 international students. One of our main goals is to increase the number of students coming from different geographies.

The program, which was held, ended with a gift presentation ceremony after the mini concert given by TÖMER student Adla Vejsilovic (Soloist), Education Faculty Music Teaching Department students Mustafa Tekin (Bağlama) and Süleyman Saltuk Çınarer (guitar).
